Have loved this beer for years, especially since it’s been widely available (mostly) year-round when other barrel-aged stouts were not. That said, it always struck me as a little too hot and boozy for its 12% ABV, which is a turn-off. And I wish it was smoother, too: there’s just too much whiskey, not enough complexity, and the mouthfeel is a little thin. Honestly, now that KBS is made year-round, I think that’s the better purchase (since I can get a four-pack, instead of a Big Bad Baptist bomber that will just give me a hangover). Cheers.
That s beer is always good. Nice amount of coffee and whiskey.
My all time favorite coffee stout… and I’ve tried many!
This was deffinitly a winner. 11.8% alc. Very smooth...chocolate...coffee and and robust flavors.
Wonderful sipping beer! Jet-black color with a thick creamy tan head and a rich coffee grind nose with hints of boozy bourbon. Taking a sip, the beer has a rich full mouthfeel that rolls luxuriously around the tongue depositing more of the coffee grind notes, cocoa powder, and boozy bourbon right on into the warming alcohol finish. All of these elements are bold but balanced, each appearing in equal measure. Loved it so much I have purchased 5 variants from Craftshack since enjoying this one.
