Pale golden color with a thick fluffy white cap and an inviting fruity nose of tropical pineapple and papaya. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, malty but quite fruity from the hops. The Citras add the pineapple and papaya the nose promised and some citrus fruit as well. The beer finishes balanced with a gentle hop bitterness.
All in all, this is an enjoyable enough beer, though it reminds me more of a modern tropical fruity pale ale than a lager. The whole point of lagering is a beer devoid of fruity esters, seems odd then to add them back with hops. Hedonistically, though, I do like it well enough. I mean, who wouldn’t like da Hawaii life?
