As the Kernville temps dip our spicy rye Winter Ale warms up the taps. It gets its kick from rye but has plenty of hops to balance out the malt.

I didn't know that to expect, with this DIPA, but was curious so I ordered it anyway. Did it have "winter spices"? Is it flavored like a pastry stout? Well, the answer is 'no.' What it does have is loads of citrus, piney and lightly resinous hops that give it a spice all its own culminating in a dry finish. All you need is a roaring fire and this beer to warm you on a cold winter day. But it would be equally welcome on a warm summer evening ... by a fire pit, of course!
A very good double IPA. Balanced, not boozy, with lots of malt and hop flavor in there. I enjoyed the first bottle I got over a year ago, and enjoyed it again this winter. Something very good to sip after a meal on a winter evening.
