Rauchbier | 7.2% ABV
Commercial Description:
Traditional Bamberg style Rauchbier brewed with beech wood smoked malt.
THIS BEER IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. You probably can't handle The Big Meat, but this is a traditional style of Doppelbock out of Bamberg, Germany. It is big, rich, and VERY SMOKY. Perfect for a good BBQd bacon burger or steak, but be careful pairing this with smoked meats as you may get confused which is the beer and which is the meat.

It's smooth. Has a distinct smoky flavor. Everyone, I've shared this with loved this.
This was one of my favorite lagers
Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a smoke a little ham. Flavor is is where the meat in the name comes in. Big smoked ham and bacon bomb. FInish leaves all kinds of smoke and meat on the tongue. Not much nuance to this beer, it's all about the smoke. The name "the big meat" is no joke here. Maybe a little too meaty for most tastes.
Great balance between the malt and the smoke. Smoke is ever so slightly sharp, resulting in my rating actually being a 4.5, but it is not strong enough to rate a 4. A true to style Bamburg Rauchbier!
Very well made smoked bock...grab it if you can find it
