Barrel & Bean starts its life as our Tripel—a Belgian-style golden ale. We age that beer in bourbon barrels for just shy of two months, before blending it with cold-brewed coffee from Speckled Ax, a Maine coffee roaster. The sun-dried Ethiopian beans in the coffee are known for their stone fruit and dark berry flavors. The finished beer features rich notes of caramel, bourbon, and coffee.

1 finger white head on a gold-orange Tripel...opaque. Good retention down to 1/4" and early lacing.
Initial nose is mild coffee. Wood starts to show about 15 minutes in...toffee, caramel aromas. Bourbon hint late.
Flavor is coffee (smooth and mild) up front followed by a hint of citrus midway through. Coffee, fruit, spice, and the mildest bourbon towards the end.
Medium body and carbonation with a creamy mouthfeel. Dry finish.
Very good and unique.
I suggest spending about an hour with this one for all the nuances to show out.
