Don't drink this beer unless you were born in Alaska, have been there or love the place.

This is your ONE and only Alaskan brew. Your opportunity to have Eskimo friends over. Or people you froze your ass off with... To watch a winter game and remember the good old days... Back when Alaskan Amber was THE beer to drink. And then, when the nostalgia hits them, pop a classic amber for each.

Jump in the hot tub and remember that once-in-a-lifetime experience: "True wilderness and cold". A vacation, a fishing trip... watching a bald eagle for the first time... throwing rocks or hitting pucks... even getting your car engine to start when it's too damn cold. If you love an approachable beer this one is for you. A balanced and smooth beer, fermented slow and colder than most ales. Malty and long on the palate, with enough hop backing to make a well balanced, amber colored “alt” style beer.

Classic Amber: Water, hops, yeast and alder-smoked malts
Voted “Best Beer in the Nation” in the 1988 Great American Beer Festival Consumer Poll. 12 gold medals since 1987! But if you need to be sold... this one is not for you.

Every beer box travels by air or sea. There are no roads connecting Juneau, Alaska to the Lower 48 or even the rest of the state. Each evening fishermen from all walks of life return to a safe harbor and close the day with a cold Alaskan Amber.

The Manifestation of Alaska:
When you love Alaska so much that you refuse to leave... you get resourceful. Picture this... You hear stories about 1700's gold rush. Rumors about explorer's favorite brew: local beer. You dust a local recipe off and detailed instructions on how to brew it... You look around and see 1,500 square-miles of ice fields...

 What do you do?

You start a brewery. At least that's what Marcy and Geoff Larson did back in 1986. Geoff, Marcy and 10 volunteers’ hand-packed and shipped 253 cases of Alaskan Amber.

Rumors have it they started with 260 boxes. Call it "quality control" 12 hours of work, 10 volunteers... you do the math...

Alaskan Brewing Company, would become the 67th independent brewery since the great Prohibition - and now, Alaskan Brewing Co. is one of the most-awarded craft breweries in the history of the Great American Beer Festival. Order yours today!

Alaskan Amber Ale

The first time I tried Alaskan Amber was on a cruise ship to Alaska. When we left the Port of Seattle, the ship had a limited number of beers, nothing that I really liked. I mostly drank Budweiser the first day or two. Our first port of call was Ketchikan. We disembarked, and did what Tourist do. When we got back on board the ship, I stopped by a bar and saw a display for Alaskan Amber. I ordered one and knew that I had found a beer to drink for the remainder of the trip. When I got back to the East Coast, I tried to find some to no avail. I learned that it wasn't distributed this far East. I finally found it on CraftShack, and ordered a 12 pack. It is as good as I remembered!

A real treat

Each bottle was individually wrapped and the package was delivered rather quickly. I first had alaskan amber while in the army. Its been 10 years now and it is still my favorite beer.
