IPA - Imperial / Double | 8% ABV

Commercial Description:

Habitus, winner of the 2014 World Beer Cup℠ in the Rye category, is a spicy, crisp, and extremely drinkable double IPA. We use loads of Sterling and Chinook hops in the kettle and hopback (and even more during the dry hop) for intense pine aromatics accentuated by a rye and 2-row malt base for a truly great IPA experience.

Nice Rye

Good flavor, a little bitter, a little malty.

Unique rye IIPA

Deep golden / copper color IIPA with good clarity. 1 finger off white head with decent retention leaves behind clingy lacing and holds as a solid cap. This is a unique nose that's hard to describe. Some of it's uniqueness is the rye malt bill I believe and a spicy/herbal hop component that pushes the "spicy" element sky high in the nose. Also a sharp twang that isn't fruity or piney as a hop type descriptor. Very high tone flavor pushing a varnish quality. Pine bitterness. Spicy is there but a little overwhelmed by the initial flavors. Medium body and carbonation. Lingering bitterness and a dry finish. Very unique aroma and flavors - probably not for me. Good.

Habitus

A little too malty & grassy for me but not bad.
